From helping societal problems like homelessness and mental health to adding more security officers, these agencies are providing an example of how transit can help a community.
The program is designed to create an additional layer of transparency for officers who protect Metro customers and employees.
Once assigned, LACDMH and Metro will work together to deploy these teams where needed within distinct areas of the Metro system to de-escalate crises, provide linkage to appropriate mental health services, and educate the community.
The pilot internship program allows seniors graduating from GSU’s Criminal Justice and Criminology Department the opportunity to work up to 20-hours a week with MPD.
