Depending on the level of achievement, organizations were presented Gold, Silver and Bronze level certifications by APTA Chair Peter Varga at the APTA Sustainability and Public Transportation Workshop, which is being held at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston.
Contracts already awarded include URS Corp. for design work; HNTB Corp. to act as the owner's representative on the project; and Stacy and Witbeck Inc., to be the project's construction manager and general contractor.
Company will begin pre-construction work including assisting with the development of the maintenance of traffic strategy; reviewing design plans and provide input; and more.
Design is expected to be complete by April 2013. Construction is expected to be complete by June 2014.
The first two sections of the Orange Line will open July 30, 2012 and Dec. 3, 2012, respectively. Those two sections are also being built by the KSWRP joint venture.
