In FY 2018, FTA awarded Tribal Transit funds to 36 competitively selected projects in 14 states.
The Morongo Indian Reservation’s new service will provide seniors, the disabled, students and others lacking transportation options on the reservation with a new means of reaching medical appointments, work, classrooms, grocery stores and other destinations.
Includes space to service and maintain nearly 100 buses and other transit vehicles in the agency’s fleet, and a new dispatch center with upgraded computer scheduling and GPS technology to better monitor and track vehicles.
Greenhouse gas and energy reduction grant will be awarded on the basis of how much the proposed capital investment is expected to reduce either energy consumption or greenhouse gases. Funds will provide grants to Indian tribes for capital expenditures including transit equipment and facilities.
