The new service, called Pikmi, will provide shared rides in Altstetten and Albisrieden, and the Triemli and Hardplatz transport hubs.
The service has the potential to grow and support other NHS trusts across the UK, including in Humberside.
From March 25 to April 19, the BerlKönig will suspend regular operations, and the service will exclusively provide free on-demand rides for medical and nursing staff during night-time hours.
Using an app, riders will select their pick-up and drop-off location to book a ride in a unified fleet of vehicles that seat up to 14.
Follows the October launch of operations in Milton Keynes, and successful debuts in Amsterdam and Berlin earlier in the year.
The new BVG-ViaVan service will utilize Via’s sophisticated algorithm to dynamically route state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz vehicles, allowing passengers to seamlessly book a shared van through a custom BVG app.
