The buses are also low-floor vehicles capable of “kneeling,” making the boarding process more convenient and fully accessible.
The low-emission buses are part of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The 39 buses have been delivered to GRT, with the remaining 9 BRT buses scheduled for delivery in 2018.
The conversion is funded through a $3.3 million grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
