The bus stop signage pilot comes in advance of anticipated bus service changes to come as part of the Bus Network Redesign Program.
If the proposed changes are adopted by the King County Council, initial upgrades to the Metro bus network will begin with the Aug. 31 service change alongside the launch of the RapidRide G Line.
Pending the Board’s vote, the first changes would go into effect next summer.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced that its 31 bus lines with frequent service will be grouped together under the new name of high-frequency lines.
Metro will host community-focused events across the region and launch an interactive website where customers can explore the reimagined bus network and provide input.
The plan focuses on improving social equity by increasing access to jobs and housing, reducing commute times, and increasing service frequency and overnight service, while also contributing to a cleaner environment and a more vibrant economy.
The redesigned network brings foundational improvements that will deliver more reliable bus service, improve connections, and more.
In partnership with the Munich Transport Company MVG, Sono Motors’ solar bus trailer can offer a possible savings of up to 2,500 liters of diesel per year as well as reducing local carbon dioxide emissions by more than 6.5 metric tons per bus.
The new network features increased frequency on 15 routes in the system on weekdays and weekends, additional service later in the evenings and on weekends, and more.
The two reports — “The State of the System” and the “Market Analysis” — include extensive and detailed technical analyses of transit markets, ridership patterns, and service productivity that reveal what works in the bus network currently and opportunities for system improvement.
