The federal budget submission requests funding to support the building of three new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects, expansion of TransLink’s bus fleet, and more.
There are more than 25 active construction sites in California’s Central Valley, with the authority having environmentally cleared 422 miles of the high-speed rail program from the Bay Area to the Los Angeles Basin.
The funding will help support the 1.8-mile extension of the Q line along the east side of Manhattan to 125th Street, relieving overcrowding on the Lexington Avenue Line, which transports 200,000 riders per day.

Funding will further support additional transit improvements across British Columbia. A component replacement initiative will extend the life, reliability, and safety of up to 377 high-capacity double-decker heavy- and medium-duty buses in BC Transit’s fleet through transmission, engine, differential, and driver seat replacements.
The proposed spending budget reflects a 9.2% increase (or $168.2 million) over the previous year’s budget and supports CTA’s ongoing workforce initiatives for hiring and retaining key operations personnel.
