SANTA ROSA, Calif. — For the next year, Sonoma County college students and veterans will be able to ride Sonoma County Transit buses for free, The Press Democrat reported.

RELATED: Sonoma County Strengthens Commitment to CNG with New Fleet

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the Pilot-Program in late September.

The program is funded by the Sonoma County general fund and will assist the Supervisors and Sonoma County Transit in determining the affect a free fare program has on ridership, traffic reduction near college campuses and community response to the program.
