CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Federal Transit Administration issued a Final Environmental Impact Statement/Record of Decision for the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project, which is expected to connect University of North Carolina (UNC) hospitals and Durham by 2026, the Daily Tarheel reports.

The light rail is planned to cover 17 miles, with an estimated travel time from end-to-end approximated to be between 42 and 44 minutes, connecting several universities, including UNC and Duke. The estimated cost of the project is between $1.5 and $1.6 billion. For the full story, click here.
