Ansaldo STS received an order from the Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS), worth approximately $284 million, to supply electromechanical equipment for the Taipei Metro.

The project, which also includes AnsaldoBreda in the vehicles segment, has a total value of approximately $431 million.

The agreement covers the first phase of a circular line for the Taipei Metro and involves an integrated turnkey system for the construction of the electromechanical installations and the supply of rolling stock for a line around 9.63 miles, with 14 stations, 17 vehicles and a depot. In total, the circular line project will cover approximately 32.3 miles, with 46 stations and three depots. The remaining 22.3 miles will be built in two later stages.

The contract should be signed by Ansaldo STS, AnsaldoBreda and DORTS in early April, with work expected to begin by the end of 2015.
