First Transit Inc. was recently awarded the transit services contract for VanGo, a countywide transportation system for the residents of Charles County, Md. The company will oversee the operation of fixed-route and paratransit service beginning Nov. 1, 2012.

The contract includes the management of 70 employees and the operation of 37 vehicles, which conducts more than 700,000 trips annually. First Transit’s VP, east region, Dave Van Fossen says his team is eager to become a part of the community.

First Transit provides complete operations, transit management and contracting services. In addition, the company establishes comprehensive preventative maintenance and inspection programs throughout the country to meet customer transportation and budgetary needs.
