FTA deputy admin. receives Cal Berkeley alumni award

Federal Transit Deputy Administrator Therese W. McMillan received the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of California Berkeley's College of Environmental Design. The award is given annually to recognize alumni for outstanding professional, social, academic, artistic or other achievements at the local, national or international level.

McMillan was appointed deputy administrator of the FTA in July 2009. She joins Administrator Peter Rogoff in leading a staff of more than 500 in the Washington, D.C. headquarters office and 10 regional offices throughout the U.S. and manages an annual budget of approximately $10 billion.

McMillan is also a member of a team developing principles that will drive the reauthorization of federal surface transportation policy that the Obama Administration and Congress will negotiate in the near future.
