Gannett Fleming wins Calif. contract

Gannett Fleming is providing program management support for the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA)'s bus rapid transit line (BRT), which connects the California communities of Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore.

LAVTA recently completed construction of bus stop improvements at 49 locations, which include distinctive shelters, real-time bus arrival information signs, lighting, benches, trash and recycling receptacles, bike racks, route signage and wayfinding signs. In addition, the project has installed Transit Signal Priority (TSP) systems at 78 intersections with bus queue jump improvements at three locations.

LAVTA initiated the BRT line, referred to as the authority's Tri-Valley RAPID service, in January. It uses 14 hybrid-electric vehicles to offer limited-stop service on a 14-mile route with 10-minute headways during peak travel times. The service connects to the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District at the Dublin/Pleasanton Station.
