SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California High-Speed Rail Authority board hired a new CEO Tuesday, ending a months-long nationwide search. Jeff Morales, who served as an executive with the $69 billion mega project's lead consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff, was in charge of developing cost estimates, funding sources and rider projections.

He was previously head of Caltrans and served on President Barack Obama's transition team for the U.S. Department of Transportation, according to a MercuryNews.com report.
