Denver RTD breaks ground on first FasTracks segment

The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) will break ground on the first segment of the FasTracks Northwest Rail Line on June 28.

With approval this month of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between RTD and the City of Westminster for a new station design near 71st Ave. and Lowell Blvd., the event will also include a ceremonial signing of the IGA.

This 6.2-mile segment of the Northwest Rail Line — from Denver Union Station (DUS) to south Westminster (71st Ave. and Lowell Blvd.) — is funded as part of the Eagle P3 project, which also is building the East Rail Line from DUS to Denver International Airport, and the Gold Line to Arvada/Wheat Ridge. All three lines are scheduled to be completed in 2016.
