OTTAWA — The Canadian Press reported that VIA Rail Canada may consider asking its riders to show identification as it reviews ways to enhance security. The move comes on the heels of an alleged terrorist plot to derail one of its trains. VIA Rail does not typically check IDs.
Marc Beaulieu, VIA’s GM, eastern Canada, told the House of Commons public safety committee that the agency had responded to at least eight to 10 security- or safety-related incidents this year. For the full story, click here.
