DETROIT — The Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan voted 9 to 1 to make an offer to Suburban Mobility Authority Regional Transport GM John Hertel to become the RTA’s new chief executive, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Hertel, also a former chairman of the Macomb County board of commissioners and former GM of the Michigan State Fair, was one of three finalists, which included Al Martin, former deputy commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, and Larry Salci, former president/CEO of the Bi-State Development Agency.
