Veolia Transportation launched service for the Calif.-based Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) on Feb. 1. Under the new contract, which was awarded in October 2013, Veolia will provide paratransit service utilizing 98 vehicles and employing nearly 200 operators and staff.

The RTA voted unanimously to award Veolia the paratransit contract to transport approximately 430,000 passengers annually. The contract term is for three years with two one-year extension options.

RTA is among largest geographic service areas in the U.S., according to Veolia.

‘’We will provide the high levels of customer service and safety that Veolia is known for,” said Erik Zandhuis, Veolia GM in Riverside. “Our passengers’ safety and their ride experience are our top priorities.”

Veolia will deploy advanced paratransit technologies to improve productivity and performance, including VeoliaVision, its proprietary performance dashboard, and its highly customized version of Ron Turley and Associates maintenance software.

The contractor’s local and corporate teams will be dedicated to improving and sustaining quality, safety and service. They will support the RTA in its efforts to continually seek improvements in service to its communities.
