NORTH LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) recently delivered the first of four paratransit vehicles it is donating to the North Las Vegas Neighborhood Recreation Center.
RTC is removing the vehicles from its fleet because it is converting its fleet from vehicles running on diesel fuel to those that use natural gas. The 12-passenger bus that the transit system delivered has a wheelchair lift to accommodate disabled riders and enough room onboard to transport motorized scooters and wheelchairs.

North Las Vegas will use the vehicles to provide transportation for senior citizens.
The 15-passenger vans that the recreation center was using were not compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act provisions. Additionally, the director of the recreation center told the Journal that passengers said the vehicles were uncomfortable. Due to a significant decrease in tax revenue, the city is on a tight budget and would have had trouble buying new vehicles. For the full story, click here.
