NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit officials hired 100 new employees, including four safety workers, and will install cameras that face crews driving trains by the end of 2017, NJ Advance Media reports.
The actions are in response to the fatal Sept. 29 train crash in Hoboken, with the hires in response to revelations that NJ Transit has lost maintenance and safety employees.
The agency is also holding job fairs at various colleges to hire employees with technical background needed to install Positive Train Control. For the full story, click here.
