Proterra showcased the second-generation of its battery-electric bus on the show floor. Founder Dale Hill said much had changed since the company first introduced its battery-electric vehicle at the 2008 EXPO. “When we introduced the bus in San Diego, there wasn’t even a battery-electric car being commercially produced,” he told METRO on the show floor. Hill added that to date, Proterra has about 50 battery-electric vehicles in service in 10 locations around the U.S., traveling a cumulative 650,000 fleet miles, or approximately 18,000 to 20,000 miles per week, with the company expecting to hit the one-million mile mark by mid-February.
