Moovit, a real-time crowd-sourced public transit app, announced the addition of Dayton, Ohio to its list of partner cities, making it the 1,500th location to be added in under four and half years.

As the state of Ohio’s greenest fleet of diesel, hybrid diesel, and electric trolley buses, the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides more than nine million passenger trips a year.

Moovit, which was named Google’s top local app in 2016, mixes available public data, including transit timetables and live information, with crowd-sourced data from its more than 70 million users and 180,000 local volunteers.

The app enables Mooviters, local volunteers, to “map” the transit information in their communities by using Moovit’s proprietary local editor tool to add transit stops, routes, timetables, and other information on the app.

Dayton is one of nine cities added to Moovit so far this August. Moovit has recently added cities in Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, and Poland and plans on launching in Gopiapo, Chile soon. On average, the company launches in a new city every 15 hours.

RTA has added the Moovit app to its website and encourages its riders to download the free app on their iOS or Android smartphones.
