Under the Commuter Choice initiative, Clemson has promoted the Tiger Transit system and introduced a CarShare program and preferred parking for low-emission and electric vehicles, as well as the new BikeShare program.
The service provider operates bus systems for Louisiana State University and Princeton University.
The drivers have voted to unionize in attempt to get more affordable health care, higher wages and respect in the workplace, according to a report.
Helen Joynes has served Princeton University’s Tiger Transit since 2009.
CLEMSONLiVE, the university’s activities service, partnered with its transit system to give students a chance to win money and prizes. Students follow CLEMSONLiVE on Twitter to find out when they can win money and learn about upcoming events and Tiger Transit.
Tiger Transit drivers will now receive an end-of-year bonus and overtime pay, as well as additional personal, holiday and sick days. The new contract meets most, if not all, of the drivers' requests, Groome Transportation officials said.
The service runs on a reduced schedule with fewer buses during these times.
