The new Plauderville Station is fully accessible to customers with disabilities, provides more convenient access to the station from the parking area and features platforms constructed with Armor Deck, a material with a structural polymer composite system used in place of concrete that resists corrosion and is maintenance-free.
The existing Rochester Station, owned by Amtrak, was constructed in 1978 as a temporary facility. The building and platforms are not ADA compliant and have greatly deteriorated in the past decade.
In this initial round of funding, the Authority has invited seven cities near the initial construction segment to apply: Merced, Fresno, Tulare/Kings, Bakersfield, San Jose, Gilroy and Palmdale.
