The BART Silicon Valley Extension project will have a profound impact on the community. It will provide an attractive alternative for commuters traveling on I-880 and I-680 corridors, create jobs, spur transit-oriented development opportunities, provide better access throughout the Bay Area, and pave the way to a cleaner, greener future.
Completion of this 16-mile initial phase will link the population and jobs centers of Silicon Valley to the high-frequency, 104-mile BART system, which already serves San Francisco, the northern Peninsula and the East Bay.
On May 23, 2015, Houston METRO joined the list of cities with top-notch transit systems with the opening of the Purple Line. Concurrent with the Purple Line, Houston METRO also opened the 3.3-mile Green Line. Combined with the Red Line extension that opened in December 2013, the three new lines will triple Houston's light-rail’s footprint.
