Universal Coach Line, one of Canada’s largest private motorcoach operators, views the zero-emission, 45-foot, 52-passenger coach as a game changer for its Vancouver airport, commuter, and shuttle service routes.
The new low-floor vehicles will provide easier access at every doorway, a spacious seating design, and large windows for better light and views.
While COVID and supply chain issues continue to make an impact on transit bus deliveries, the trend could shift in the short term thanks to record funding and the slow yet building increase in ridership around the nation.
The luxury coaches also will be equipped with MCI’s latest Advance Driver Assistance Systems, which include collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control, along with 360 degree exterior cameras to help drivers prevent road incidents.
The buses will all be in service with Canadian public transit agency EXO.
The order includes six depot chargers and commissioning by New Flyer Infrastructure Solutions, supporting electric bus deployment in Eugene-Springfield, Oregon, and Metro Area.
Funding for the buses was provided through a 2019 Low-No Program grant award.
The coaches provided team transport for the Canadian Premier League, a professional soccer league in Canada, during a recent bubble tournament in Prince Edward Island.
