California high-speed rail groundbreaking delayed

The state needs a few more months to buy more land and equipment, finish designs and hire workers. California High-Speed Rail Authority officials say they are on schedule, having started prep work, such as testing soil and surveying land one month ago.

Denver RTD, Kiewit launch rail construction

After a competitive bidding process following an unsolicited proposal by Kiewit Infrastructure Co., the RTD board of directors awarded a contract to Kiewit in July 2012 to complete the full I-225 Rail Line by the end of 2015. The line will open in 2016 after about six months of testing.

Chicago Transit announces crucial labor agreement

The agreement helps lower overtime costs by allowing the CTA to more efficiently run three consecutive work shifts at regular time, instead of overtime. The new work rules also lower the number of required workers on the afternoon shift, which includes the afternoon rush hour and is typically the least-efficient shift.
