TORONTO — A new report by the Toronto Environmental Alliance and a coalition calling itself TTCriders found that light rail is best for the city because it is both cheaper and more environmentally friendly, according to the Toronto Star. According to the report, "Clearing the Air on the TTC," subways rate slightly better than light rail in terms of fewer greenhouse gas emissions, however, light rail vehicles, travelling on dedicated lanes, would outstrip that benefit by taking many more cars off the road because the city could afford to build more light rail.
