Translink, the Greater Vancouver Area Transit Authority, has signed an agreement with Nova Bus for the purchase of 141 Nova LFS HEV hybrid-electric buses.

The Nova LFS HEV offers the benefits of hybrid drive; an electric drive coupled to a smaller, clean diesel engine than what is used in the conventional Nova LFS, for enhanced hybrid performance and fuel economy. The contract includes an option for an additional 110 vehicles. Nova Bus delivered 126 diesel-powered Nova LS buses to Translink last year.

Delivery is expected to take place in mid-2009.
