Phoenix-based Valley Metro now provides a mobile-friendly version of its Website for Web-enabled handheld devices and cell phones.

The regional transit provider began offering the mobile version of www.valleymetro.org in late 2007. Valley Metro bus schedules, the online trip planner, rider alerts and agency news are some of the services now featured in mobile view format. The agency hired the New York-based firm, Usablenet Inc., to create and support the mobile version of its Website.

The company has also developed a “text only” feature that assists the visually impaired in adjusting the lettering size and screen colors for improved legibility.
