MTA New York City Transit won top honors in all three categories at the 14th Annual International Rail Rodeo, held in conjunction with the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Rail Conference in New York City.
MTA took first place in both the Maintainers and Operators competitions and also won the Rail Transit Team Achievement Award, which is given to the operator and maintainer team that has the highest combined score.
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) won second place for the Rail Transit Team award, while Chicago Transit Authority took third. MARTA also won second place in the Operators Competition, with Sacramento Transit District winning third place.
Rounding out the winners of the Rail Rodeo were Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, who won second and third place respectively, in the Maintainers Competition.
Overall, a total of 20 North American rail transit systems, with 32 operators and 48 maintainers, participated in the competition held at the MTA’s Coney Island Yard in Brooklyn.
