NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is shaving time off its subway announcements to get trains in and out of stations faster, the New York Post reported.
Automated messages in newer subway cars will still warn customers to stand clear of the closing doors, but the MTA will be more economical when announcing where the train is and what station is up next.
The shorter messages are part of the MTA’s strategy to cope with sky-high ridership, with a focus on reducing the amount of time that 6, 7, and F trains spend in stations. For the full story, click here.
