LOS ANGELES — On Thursday, Metrolink will become the first commuter rail service in the nation to roll out a collision avoidance system designed to overcome human error, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Metrolink's deadly Chatsworth crash in 2008, which killed 25 people and injured 135 others, prompted Congress to demand that the nation's freight and passenger railroads be equipped with positive train control by the end of 2015.
