TACOMA, Wash. — Pierce Transit’s board rejected a proposal to switch more than 100 non-union employees to a market-driven salary system with annual raises awarded by merit only, not by cost-of-living or automatic step increases, according to The News Tribune. Board members voiced concern about the timing of the changes and how the plan would increase the salary ceiling for most positions.
A recent survey conducted for the transit system showed its salary ranges for nonunion employees were on average about 8.6% lower than pay ranges for transit systems surveyed in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, the Tribune reported. For the full story, click here.
