MARTA paratransit riders stuck with higher fares

NORCROSS, Ga. — Gwinnett Paratransit passengers wanting to transfer to Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) end up paying double fares, NBC 11Alive reported.

Passengers on Gwinnett Transit's regular bus lines that transfer to MARTA only pay $2.00, the normal cost of a ride on Gwinnett Transit. Gwinnett Transit officials told NBC 11Alive that the high cost of paratransit bumps up the cost and when area transportation groups get together to establish a regional fare policy, they will look into making the free transfers more consistent.
