On Dec. 15, the Redondo Beach (Calif.) City Council awarded a three-year contract for the first time to Irvine, Calif.-based Transportation Concepts for the operation of Beach Cities Transit.

Based in Irvine, Transportation Concepts is a provider of safe, reliable and responsive passenger transportation services from nine different locations in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties, and is wholly owned by Parking Concepts.

“This is a very exciting project for Transportation Concepts,” said Herb Mundon, the new project manager for the contract. "Beach Cities Transit is constantly seeking to improve customer service, and the expertise Transportation Concepts has in this area will certainly complement those efforts.”

The new contract began Jan. 1, 2010.
