PROVIDENCE, R.I.Projo.com reports that the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority may impose an additional charge for riding longer distances faster to help close a budget deficit. With resistance from riders to a service reduction and statements from some of them that they would prefer a fare increase instead, the board put off a decision on the service reduction for the second time.
