Plans for the Central Loop East-West Transit Corridor include designated bus-priority lanes on two miles of streets The Loop BRT corridor will serve Union Station, Ogilvie Transportation Center, CTA subways and Navy Pier with more than 1,700 buses per day, making it one of the busiest bus routes in the nation. Expected to start service in 2014.
Built on a 2013 model year or newer chassis with a 6.8-liter, V10 engine, the ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas-powered Ford F-53 and F-59 feature a 67-usable gallon propane autogas fuel tank.
The agency is installing 30 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in 17 locations and has trained 20 employees in CPR and the use of the AEDs. The training and AEDs are part of a larger effort by the two organizations to improve preparedness in the community.
The funds are provided through the FTA’s Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks program, which awarded $40.8 million for similar projects in January 2012.
Team will now be organized into four core segments: Transit, School Bus, Paratransit, and Personal Mobility. This strategic shift to a segmented approach was motivated by the desire to better serve customer needs.
