Drew University's newest green transportation option, a shared, low-cost shuttle service that runs in a continuous loop between Drew, downtown Madison, the College of St. Elizabeth and Fairleigh Dickinson University, launched in September.
The service, which offered each student six free late-night cab rides per semester within the campus area, was funded entirely through mandatory student segregated fees.
The new feature can show any bus route, where the bus is on any selected route and where it is going, with the position updated every 10 seconds.
Adding and extending service on almost 40 bus, subway and commuter rail lines. The investments will be phased in over several months and will cost an additional $29 million per year to operate when fully implemented. They are paid for with increased revenue generated by additional ridership and savings from the agency’s efforts to contain costs.
Laurence (Larry) W. Jackson, in his fortieth year as a leader and innovator at the Calif.-based transit system, was named the “Outstanding Public Transportation Manager” for 2012.
