Mary Peters was sworn in Tuesday as the new administrator for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Peters, now the nation’s top highway official, is the 15th administrator of the FHWA. Peters has been with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) since 1985, and was appointed director in 1998. At ADOT, Peters was responsible for more than 6,000 miles of roadway statewide and managed more than 4,800 employees. More recently, she chaired the Standing Committee on Planning and the Asset Management Task Force for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
