The American Public Transportation Association reached an agreement with Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. to assume sole ownership and control of TransportMAX, the Internet-based transportation marketplace. The marketplace tool, which opened for business April 2002, has reduced process time and costs in purchasing of products, said APTA President William W. Millar in a statement. Products include e-procurement services for request-for-quotes, catalog purchasing and reordering, vendor sourcing, auctioning, and a complete listing of transactions for buyers and sellers. Under the original arrangement, Booz Allen developed the technology for the marketplace, provided management expertise and served as financial investor in the enterprise.
