Cubic Transportation Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Cubic Corp. in San Diego, has opened an office in Beijing, China.

Company officials said that Cubic wants to supply rail fare collection systems in what many consider the world’s fastest-growing market.

“We will be bidding in the next few weeks for major contracts being tendered by the Beijing Metro,” said Walter Zable, chairman of Cubic Transportation Systems.

Cubic has already installed systems and equipment in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai.
