The city of Redondo Beach, Calif., awarded Laidlaw Transit Services Inc. a five-year contract to operate the Beach Cities Transit service. The new service will use 11 buses to cover two fixed routes and a dial-a-ride program. It's expected that the buses will cover nearly 300,000 miles annually. Additionally, the contract includes an estimated 23,000 service hours per contract year and total revenue of $4.6 million during the life of the contract.
