The cities of Black Hawk and Central City (Colo.) have collaborated to create the BH&CC Tramway, a new shuttle system using global positioning systems.

The BH&CC Tramway, designed in part by Noble Erickson Inc., is a $1 million project that started as an expansion of the Black Hawk Tramway.

The system features six shuttles and 16 bus stops that aim to reduce traffic congestion and connect visitors, residents and workers to two of Colorado's oldest cities and most popular tourist destinations.

The Tramway features colorful bus wraps and signage, as well as NextBus technology that blends GPS with cellular phone technology to provide waiting passengers with real-time arrival information at all 16 bus stops.
