Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. has been awarded an $11.3 million contract for design and integration of a new smart card-based automated fare collection system that will link rail and parking services for the Port Authority Transit Corp. (PATCO).

The 14.2-mile PATCO rail line connects Philadelphia to suburban Camden County, N.J., and is a principal connection to New Jersey Transit and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

Under the new contract, Cubic will deliver an open-architecture fare collection system of operational software, communications, sales terminals, ticket vending machines, faregates and parking equipment for 13 rail stations and seven parking facilities servicing PATCO.
