Woodinville, Wash.-based Apollo Video Technology was awarded a five-year contract to provide audio and video surveillance systems on King County Metro Transit buses.

The buses will have the RoadRunner surveillance system installed by the third quarter of this year. The eight-camera system is compatible with wireless downloading technology already in place on the buses. Metro has been testing the video system since June 2007.

The initial purchase totals $685,000. Under the terms of the contract, additional systems may be purchased for installation on new Metro buses.
