A Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) bus, packed with cans and boxed foods, delivered the equivalent of 3,300 meals to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

Riders donated thousands of cans during The T’s annual “Ride for a Can Day” on July 24, to benefit the food bank. During the drive, one canned good could be redeemed for a one-way bus fare, while two canned goods earned a free local “Day Pass,” which could be used for unlimited rides that day on The T’s buses and the Trinity Railway Express commuter rail within Tarrant County.

T employees also joined the donation effort by bringing canned goods to work. Canned goods were collected at T offices, at The Intermodal Transportation Center, and on all buses and trolleys.
