The new buses will be used on LADOT's "Commuter Express" service and replace 95 older, diesel powered buses. The nearly $67 million purchase also makes the fleet 100% CNG driven, joining its 200 "DASH" shuttle buses, which are already 100% alternatively propelled.
The total cost of the project, including property acquisition, demolition and design is about $15 million. The construction cost is approximately $11.5 million. The terminal employs more than 40, which includes people from MATA, Greyhound and other tenants.

Renewed the call for an extension of federal transit benefits since the congressional supercommittee that planned to reduce the deficit has disbanded. Benefits are slated to drop from $230 per month to $125 per month on Jan. 1.
