During the past quarter-century, the manufacturer has sustained hundreds of jobs, while producing more than 2,500 railcars at its plant, which sits in the heart of the Northeast Corridor. Kawasaki is currently working on the next generation of the 7 line subway cars that will be supplied to New York City Transit.

Bombardier Transportation will provide 100 multilevel vehicles to New Jersey Transit. Kawasaki Railcar Inc. is supplying Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority with 364 vehicles.

Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. has ordered 150 DuraMAR 1000 routers for installation on new M-8 passenger railcars.

With this order, the MTA is taking up the second option on a contract originally awarded to Alstom and Kawasaki in 2002. Alstom’s share of the latest order represents approximately $491 million and covers the production of 242 metro cars.
