Chicago to equip all stations with cameras by May

After each station has at least one high-definition camera, additional cameras will be installed across the rail system beginning with the Loop stations and along the Brown and Red lines by this fall. All stations will have multiple cameras by the end of the year.

Chicago Transit completes rail expansion project

Platforms at 16 stations were extended to provide space for eight-car trains resulting in a one-third increase in capacity over the six-car configuration. Eight-car train operation began on March 30, 2008.


April 22, 2009

ARRA to fund Chicago Transit track replacement

The $87.8 million project will create approximately 400 jobs locally over the course of the project through the construction contractor.
